Our Story
Meet Simon Dennis
Founder and Managing Director of White Glove Chauffeur Service
People often ask how White Glove Chauffeur Service came about.
There is a straightforward business answer involving vehicles, service standards and an ambition to create something different. But the real answer is considerably more personal.
White Glove was built from a lifetime of experiences: working hard, travelling, raising a family, overcoming setbacks and learning that the smallest details often make the greatest difference.
Rather than present a conventional company history, we sat down with founder Simon Dennis and simply asked him to tell the story in his own words.
“I have never been somebody who looks for attention. I would much rather let the service, the vehicles and our clients do the talking.
But White Glove has become such a personal part of our family’s story that perhaps it is time to explain why we built it—and why it means so much to us.”

The Beginning
Simon, where did the White Glove story begin?
Simon: The foundations were there long before White Glove Chauffeur Service had a name.
Our original family business was built around wedding transport. Weddings teach you an enormous amount about service because there is no second attempt.
The vehicle must be prepared properly, the chauffeur must arrive on time, and every detail has to be right.
You are not simply transporting somebody. You are being trusted with a small but important part of one of the biggest days of their life.
That responsibility stayed with me.
Over the years, Heidi and I were also fortunate enough to travel and experience some remarkable hotels, airlines and luxury services.
We saw occasions when the word “luxury” was completely justified—and other occasions when it was little more than a high price and a recognisable badge.
Real luxury was rarely about the loudest or most expensive object in the room. It was about how everything made you feel.
It was the member of staff who remembered something you mentioned earlier. It was the drink arriving before you needed to ask. It was the calmness of knowing somebody had already considered what might go wrong.
“I didn’t want to build another company that owned some expensive cars and called itself luxury.
I wanted to build the service I would expect to receive myself.”

Why White Glove?
Why create White Glove Chauffeur Service?
Simon: Because I believed chauffeur travel could be better.
I could see plenty of companies providing excellent vehicles, but the experience often ended with the vehicle itself.
To me, a luxury car does not automatically create a luxury service.
The chauffeur’s presentation matters. The way the client is greeted matters. The cleanliness of the glassware matters. The temperature of the drinks matters. Helping somebody from the vehicle in the rain matters.
Even the things a client may never consciously notice still matter.
We launched White Glove Chauffeur Service in 2020 with a simple ambition: to create a chauffeur experience in which every detail had been considered.
The timing could hardly have been worse.
We had prepared the vehicles, made the investment and created the service—then the world stopped.
The pandemic brought hospitality, weddings, international travel and corporate events to an almost complete standstill.
It would have been very easy to conclude that the timing was wrong and walk away.
Instead, it gave us time to examine every stage of the client journey and decide what White Glove should become.
“We used that time to build the service properly. Those decisions became the White Glove Standard.”

Our Promise
What is the White Glove Standard?
Simon: It is our promise that luxury will be experienced, not merely advertised.
It begins before the chauffeur arrives.
The itinerary must be understood, the vehicle selected correctly and the client kept informed. The vehicle must be meticulously prepared, the drinks properly chilled and every requested detail in place.
Our chauffeurs wear professionally tailored uniforms because presentation forms part of the occasion. They carry umbrellas because a luxury service should not end when it begins to rain.
Inside the vehicles, we use crystal Champagne flutes and chilled glass-bottled water. Our premium vehicles include Collet Champagne, refrigeration, proper bottle holders and practical comforts passengers appreciate on longer journeys.
Depending on the vehicle, clients may also enjoy individual Nappa leather seating, heating, cooling, massage functions, electric footrests, passenger tables, entertainment screens, wireless charging and starlight roofs.
But the White Glove Standard is not simply a checklist of equipment.
It is an attitude.
“True luxury is often found in the things a client should never need to ask for.”
It is ensuring the vehicle is waiting before the agreed time. It is understanding when a client wants conversation and when they would prefer quiet. It is pouring the first drink, assisting with luggage and watching carefully for anything that could make the journey easier.
It is also why we operate our own distinctive vehicles using our own trusted professional chauffeurs.
We do not promise the White Glove Standard and then pass the journey to an unknown subcontractor. If our name is on the booking, the responsibility remains ours.

Designed Around the Passenger
Why create your own bespoke vehicles?
Simon: Because an ordinary factory specification could never deliver the experience I had in my head.
I have always looked at vehicles from the passenger’s perspective.
Where will somebody put their drink? Can every passenger charge their phone? Is there enough personal space? Can they watch a film, work at a table or relax after a long event? Is the fridge accessible? What happens to their luggage?
These may sound like small questions, but together they determine whether a journey merely looks luxurious or genuinely feels luxurious.
That thinking led us towards increasingly bespoke vehicles.
Our Mercedes JET Sprinter became a spacious six-passenger private lounge. The Araror was designed around eight individual Nappa leather seats, three bespoke tables, two large screens, refrigeration, massage seating and substantial luggage capacity.
The VIP Mini Coach took that thinking to a larger scale, creating a first-class cabin for thirteen passengers with individual heated and massaging seats, passenger tables, entertainment, several fridges and a starlight roof.
The Lexus LM Starlight Signature and Driven Land Jet then allowed us to create different forms of private-cabin luxury for smaller groups.
“We do not begin by asking how many seats we can fit inside.
We begin by asking what experience we can create for the people sitting in them.”
We also show clients the exact vehicle they are booking.
We use real photographs, detailed specifications, videos and interactive interior views wherever possible. Clients should not have to rely upon a generic manufacturer photograph and hope that something similar arrives.

The Moments That Matter
When did you realise White Glove was becoming something special?
Simon: There was not one single moment. It happened gradually through the reactions of our clients.
Awards are important, and I am incredibly proud that White Glove has been recognised nationally on numerous occasions, including being named UK Chauffeur Company of the Year in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Those awards reassure people that an independent organisation has recognised the standards we work so hard to maintain.
But the moments that stay with me are usually smaller and more personal.
They happen when a vehicle door opens.
A client steps inside the Araror or VIP Mini Coach, looks around and simply says:
“Wow. Wow.”
That reaction means an enormous amount because it is completely instinctive. For those few seconds, you see the experience through the client’s eyes.
The other moment that always makes me smile is when we reach the destination and the clients say they would rather continue driving around because they are enjoying the vehicle so much.
Most transport exists because people want to reach the destination. We have created vehicles that people do not want to leave.
During one recent private tour, a phrase began circulating among the guests:
“Everybody needs a Simon.”
I am naturally quite reserved, so I would never say something like that about myself.
But it was not really about me. It was about feeling cared for and knowing that somebody was quietly looking after the details throughout the journey.
That is exactly what White Glove is supposed to be.

Family and Purpose
The last two years have been incredibly difficult. What kept you going?
Simon: Family.
There is no complicated answer to that question.
In August 2024, we lost our daughter at the age of thirty-six.
In May 2025, I lost my father.
There are events in life for which no amount of preparation can make you ready. They change you, and they change the way you look at everything around you.
During that same period, the business faced some of its most difficult trading conditions. After several years of building momentum, demand fell sharply and we had to fight incredibly hard to protect what we had created.
There were moments when the emotional and business pressures felt overwhelming.
I do not say that because I want sympathy. I remain a private person, and some parts of grief will always remain within our family.
But it would be impossible to tell the true story of White Glove without acknowledging those years.
The business did not continue untouched by what happened. It continued while we were living through it.
Heidi and I had to keep moving forward, one day at a time.
Our grandchildren became an even greater focus of our lives. They needed security, stability, love and a future in which they could believe.
That gave the business a deeper purpose.
“There were days when carrying on felt almost impossible.
But stopping was never really an option. Our grandchildren deserved the best possible start in life, and I was determined to do everything within my power to give them that.”
White Glove was no longer simply a business we wanted to grow.
It became part of the future we were trying to protect for our family.
Work cannot remove grief. Success cannot replace the people we have lost.
But purpose gives you a reason to get up, keep building and believe that something positive can still emerge from the most difficult period of your life.

The Journey Continues
Simon, when you are sitting on your own, what makes you proud?
Simon: Two things immediately come to mind.
The first is when the door opens on a vehicle such as the Araror or VIP Mini Coach and the clients say:
“Wow. Wow.”
I know how much work, risk, thought and determination went into creating what they are seeing.
They do not see the drawings, decisions, sleepless nights, finance, setbacks or countless tiny changes behind that moment.
They simply see something exceptional.
And that is how it should be.
The second is when we arrive and somebody says:
“Can’t we just keep driving around? This vehicle is fantastic.”
Those words probably mean more to me than any sales figure.
They prove that we have transformed travel from something to endure into something people genuinely enjoy.
On a more personal level, I am proud that we carried on.
I am proud that during the most difficult period of our lives, we protected the business, continued investing and remained committed to the standards we had promised our clients.
I am proud of Heidi, the family around us, the chauffeurs who represent us and the clients who have trusted us with important moments in their lives.
And I am proud that our grandchildren will grow up knowing that when life became incredibly difficult, their family did not give up.
“Success, for me, is not simply building a bigger company.
It is building something our family can be proud of—something created with care, determination and a genuine reason for existing.”
What comes next for White Glove?
We keep improving.
I do not think White Glove will ever reach a point where I say, “That is finished.”
There will always be another detail to refine, another vehicle idea to explore and another way to make the client experience better.
We will continue developing distinctive vehicles, growing our VIP group-travel and private-tour services and investing in the people who represent White Glove.
But growth must never come at the expense of the White Glove Standard.
“Look after people properly. Keep your word. Never stop caring about the details.”
White Glove was built around the belief that people remember how an experience made them feel.
Behind every journey is a family, a trusted team and a story shaped by ambition, adversity, loss, determination and love.
That is our story.
And with every journey entrusted to us, another small part of it is written.
You don’t just book White Glove. You experience it.
